Emergency Earthquake Relief Efforts: Responding to the 2015 Devastation

On April 25, 2015, a devastating earthquake struck Nepal, causing catastrophic damage, particularly in the districts of Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok. The tremor resulted in the near-total destruction of an estimated 99% of households, significant loss of livestock, and widespread damage to agricultural lands. Tragically, many lives were also lost, leaving countless individuals without food, shelter, or immediate support.

In the immediate aftermath of this unprecedented disaster, Himalayan Society for Community Development (HISCOD Nepal) swiftly mobilized to provide critical emergency relief. Collaborating with invaluable partners, including Le Filet D’indra (France), Hands Nepal (Holland), and Dolpa Tulku Foundation (Kathmandu, Nepal), HISCOD Nepal was able to deliver vital assistance to the most affected communities.

Our collective efforts focused on addressing the urgent needs of the displaced and vulnerable. Through these partnerships, we successfully distributed temporary shelter to over 250 households and provided essential emergency relief to more than 20 villages.
